This training will discuss the role of bacteria in wound care and the management of infection in wounds. Time will also be spent on the prevention of infection.

- Explain the impact of bacteria on wounds including biofilm formation
- Define wound contamination, colonization and infection
- Identify the signs and symptoms of an infected wound
- Explain when to use topical or systemic antimicrobials
- Reiterate the importance of prevention of infection
